A New Year Begins....
Posted 11 Sep 2015, 09:55 by Tilbury BandThe Tilbury Band and Academy Ensembles are back from their summer break and getting straight back into the mix!!!The Brass & Percussion Academy had their first rehearsal back on Sunday 6 September.
The Tilbury Band is already preparing for the Oxfordshire Entertainment ContestWith Andrew Austin at the helm and spurred on by the successful summer season the band are making great strides toward this contest which they have never entered before.The Tilbury Band is a 2nd section contesting band and rehearses on Wednesdays at 8pm. Why not get in touch through our contact form. Or by coming along to a rehearsal. Please note that in the run up to contests extra Sunday rehearsals are scheduled for 7:30pm starts.Under the Direction of Ben Jones the Academy Band is taking on the form of big band, playing music that is fun, challenging and most importantly excellent for learning those all important band skills of playing together, intonation and listening to each other to understand how your part fits with everything else.The Academy Band is the stepping stone to progress into the main Tilbury (Senior) Band and it wells players of any age of an intermediate level. Or by coming along to a rehearsal every Sunday at 5:15pm.The Tilbury Junior Band came back from the summer to their first rehearsal on Sunday 6 September.
The Percussion Academy with Direction from Charlotte Treadaway strives to bring a more organic approach to music making, helping the players learn about percussion techniques and those all important ensemble skills required on any instrument. Rehearsal start at 3:30pm on Sundays come along to rehearsal or get in touch through our contact form.Greg White guides young and 'young at heart' beginners through the basics of performing in a group and encourages beginners in all things brass.The Junior Band comes together at 4pm every Sunday, if you or a young one you are responsible for is looking for a friendly, encouraging and musically educational experience Why not get in touch through our contact form. Summer is Over!!!

Summer is on its way out and Tilbury Band are taking a well deserved break.This summer we have toured Essex and Kent - from Colchester to Folkestone, from St Mary's Church, Great Burstead to Westminster Abbey, the Tilbury Band has been engaged in a variety of exciting concerts and have entertained hundreds of people of all ages with a mix of popular music, jazz, show tunes and original brass band compositions.

Tilbury Gets Quiz-ical
Posted 22 Jun 2015, 05:17 by Tilbury BandOn Saturday 20th June, the eggheads descended on the Tilbury Band Hall for quiz night!8 teams battled it out, through rounds including general knowledge, history, film, the arts and food and drink. Finally a team emerged victorious... Congratulations to the Aitken Family.The quiz night proved a huge success with participants enjoying spirited rivalry and a drink or two at our very own bar, The Harrington Arms.Keep an eye out for future social activities on our calendar page.
